ALDI has been given the go ahead to build a new store on the outskirts of the town centre.
Proposals to transform a plot of land next to the Wickes store off Old Mill Lane - on the former National Grid site - have been approved by planning officials.
The development, expected to create 40 new jobs, received overwhelming public support with 90 letters sent to the council by residents saying they were in favour of the new store.
