BARNSLEY residents booked more cruises than almost any other town or city across the UK last year, a study has revealed.

Overall, locals booked the fifth-highest number of cruises per head compared to the rest of the UK.

It’s the second year in a row Barnsley residents have made the top ten.

Tony Andrews, managing director of cruise.co.uk, said: “There’s no doubting the popularity of cruises in Barnsley.

“Clearly there is significant demand for a sea escape locally, with the town consistently appearing in our top ten booking hotspots.”
