LANDSCAPING firm Twiggs has announced its ‘Clean and Green Team’ contract will not be renewed by Barnsley Council after March.
The team has been ran by Twiggs since its inception 11 years ago but the council have decided to move the service in-house.
A spokesperson for Twiggs said: “While this is a disappointment for our team, we couldn’t be prouder of what we’ve accomplished.
“We will leave behind not only a community ethos, but areas that will be enjoyed for years to come – from orchards and art installations to habitats and wild meadows.
“We’ve renovated parks and play equipment, restored footpaths and ornamental planters, planted trees and installed bat boxes and removed a countless amount of litter from our streets.
“We have seen pandemics come and go and made countless friends from within the community along the way.
“Until our contract concludes, we’re committed to giving our all, supporting volunteers and projects right to the very end.”
