More medals as Mick 'feels fitter than he did as a teenager'

RACE walking extraordinaire Mick Barker has returned from his latest competition with another medal haul.

The 86-year-old, of Lavender Court in Kendray, headed to Gothenburg in Sweden last month to take part in the World Masters Athletic Championships.

He won two silvers in the individual ten-kilometre road walk and also the team aspect of the same event as well as a bronze in the 5,000-metre track walk.

Mick said: “I’m very proud I feel fitter now than I did when I was a teenager.”
