Untaxed van costs motorist almost £1k

A MOTORIST whose van was untaxed has been given a bill totalling almost £1,000.

Gary Hinton, of Lilac Crescent, Hoyland, kept his Ford Transit on Sheffield Road, Barnsley, and breached the Vehicle Excise and Registration Act.

The 40-year-old, who did not appear at his hearing at Barnsley Magistrates’ Court last week, was fined £660, told to pay vehicle excise back duty of £216 and court costs of £90, totalling £966.
