A BARNSLEY pub has been handed a one-star food hygiene rating.

The Star Hotel, based on Barnsley Road in Cudworth, was given the score following an assessment on November 25.

The Food Standards Agency’s website says that there needs to be a major improvement in both cleanliness and condition of its facilities and its management of food safety.

Meanwhile, Spudz, based in the Market Kitchen in the town centre was also given a score of one following an assessment on November 18.

The Food Standards Agency’s website says that while cleanliness and condition of its facilities and building is good, major improvement is needed in its management of food safety.

While American Fried Chicken, based on Barnsley Road in Wombwell, picked up a four-star rating after an assessment on the same day.
