A TOWN centre car park will be closed for the foreseeable future while work starts on a huge new project.
The Commerce House car park will close on Thursday (January 2) as work to bring the Northern Academy for Vocal Excellence (NAVE) starts.
The site will deliver singing tuition to young people.
This will also serve as a home to the world-renowned Barnsley Youth Choir.
The choir is ranked fifth in the Interkultur World Rankings and has won eight first prizes in some of the most important international competitions in the world.
The NAVE will bring back into use the former computer centre building on the corner of St Mary’s Place and Westgate.
Roofing works are set to start on Sunday.
