THREE Barnsley businesses bagged top accolades at an annual awards night.

The Barnsley and Rotherham Business Awards, held at Magna, saw more than 500 people attend.

Cranswick Convenience Foods bagged the community impact award, Barnsley FC Community Trust clinched the charity of the year title and Mace Group won the large business of the year accolade.

Special mentions were also given to the long-standing achievements of JC Snell and White’s Bakery, which both celebrated their 90th anniversaries, and Barnsley Hospice’s 30th year in operation.

Mattthew Stephens, president of the Barnsley and Rotherham Chamber, said: “The standard of entries was exceptionally high and every business that was shortlisted, highly commended and winners on the night should feel incredibly proud of their achievements.

“From innovative start-ups to long-standing Barnsley businesses, which have collectively devoted 210 years’ service to our local communities, and despite many businesses preparing themselves for challenging times, at least in the short term, the chamber will continue to offer support, advice and campaign on behalf of South Yorkshire businesses to ensure their voices are heard.”
