A MAN who failed to attend unpaid work appointments having been convicted of theft has been given a suspended prison sentence.

Lee South, of Honeywell Grove, Barnsley, stole an Apple Watch and was sentenced to a community order.

However, the 25-year-old failed to provide an acceptable reason as to why he missed unpaid work appointments between September 19 and October 7 last year.

South was given a 12-week prison sentence which was suspended for a year due to it being the fourth breach of the order.

He was also told to complete 90 hours of unpaid work over the next year.
