BARNSLEY Council says it is reducing the backlog of missed bin collections and from Tuesday there will be additional resources working to help catch up.

A council spokesman: “We’re continuing to prioritise grey bins. Please place both recycling and grey bins out from Tuesday (January 28) and we'll come back for them as soon as we can.

“Thank you for temporarily bringing your recycling in while the storm passed through. We know that strong winds have caused many issues with bins blowing over, and because of this we have additional resources from our Neighbourhood Services team working to clear up and will continue to do so over the weekend.

“We apologise for these disruptions and thank you for your patience as we work to catch up.

“Please only contact us if it's essential. We're receiving a high volume of calls, but our staff don't have any additional information they can share.

“We'll provide a further update on our plans on Monday January 27.”
