YOUTH offending officers are working with Grimethorpe youngsters who are believed to be responsible for a spike in antisocial behaviour.

Police and council teams have clamped down on the issues plaguing Asda in the village, which has also resulted in disruption to bus services.

A police spokesperson said: “Our neighbourhood officers stepped up joint patrols with council wardens and special constables including running a ‘Trojan bus’ operation with officers placed on the bus to detain anyone involved.

“Young people have been referred through to the youth offending team for the part they played in such behaviour.”
