A RULING cabinet member has praised a ‘key’ council service’s members for securing Ofsted’s top accolade.
Barnsley Council’s Adult Skills and Community Learning service – which helps learners secure new qualifications – was previously rated as ‘good’ but has since been moved to the top-performing ‘outstanding’ bracket.
The town is just one of three in the country to hold the grade.
Coun Robin Franklin, cabinet spokesperson for regeneration and culture, said: “The achievement is a testament to the hard work of our dedicated staff, learners and supportive communities.”
