LOCAL children had the chance to take part in bike and scooter sessions this week – and they’ll be taking place throughout the summer holidays.

On Wednesday, children at Wombwell Park took part in the RampUp sessions as part of the Cyclefest scheme.

The Barnsley Council-run project – which aims to inspire physical activity across the town – will be delivered across the town this summer.

A spokesperson for the council said: “This summer holiday the RampUp team will be travelling around the borough to bring exciting bike and scooter sessions to your community.

“RampUp sessions are informal and relaxed and are a great way to get children and young people inspired to cycle and scoot more.

“They might also learn some new skills along the way.

“The sessions also increase physical activity and help encourage cycling and scooting for active travel as well as fun.”
