A DEVELOPER has unveiled plans for a 125,000sq ft scheme at Dearne Valley Parkway.
Officials at Gregory Property Group say the venture, next to junction 36 of the M1, will deliver three units boasting ‘high specification industrial accommodation’.
Building work – led by contractor Marshall Construction – is set to start this month, with the development earmarked for completion by early 2026.
John McGhee, managing director of Gregory Property Group, said: “The site is a high profile and popular location for industrial occupiers because of its excellent transport links and local labour force. We expect demand to be high.”
The developer, which is working with Elland’s Commercial Development Projects on the scheme, bought the ten-acre site from Barnsley Council.
Coun Robin Franklin, cabinet spokesperson for regeneration and culture, said: “This proves Barnsley is open for business.
“It will encourage business growth, provide new employment opportunities and boost our local economy.”
The council was advised by law firm Shoosmiths. Partner Kellie Hatton, who led the deal, added: “This is a complex site, which the council has worked hard on to realise value for Barnsley.
“It really is a great achievement to know the developer will be starting soon.”
