ROADWORK ROUND-UP: Several areas will be affected by new repair work in the coming days.

Motorists have been warned to expect delays in the town centre next week. Peel Street will be the subject of work by Northern Powergrid between Monday and Wednesday. Delays are likely whilst traffic control measures are in place.

A number of Dodworth roads will be closed overnight for approximately one week, starting from Sunday. Station Road, High Street, Barnsley Road and Dodworth Green Road – near to the Dodworth Crossroads – will be closed from 8pm until 5am. Barnsley Council will undertake work including the replacement of the worn carriageway and installation of new road markings.

A lane on the M1 near Barnsley will be closed overnight next week. From 9pm next Friday until 9.30am the following day, a lane will be closed both northbound and southbound from junction 37 to 38 for barrier repairs. Motorists have been warned to expect delays of around ten minutes.

Motorists are being told to expect delays on a Darfield road next week. Saltersbrook Road will see temporary traffic lights in place on Tuesday between 7.30am and 3pm whilst Openreach conduct work in the area. Residents and motorists have been told that delays are likely.

A lane on junction 38 of the M1 northbound will be closed until next week. The lane, which closed to the public on Monday, will reopen next Thursday whilst general cleaning and maintenance work takes place. Delays of around ten minutes are expected.

Two roads in Elsecar will be closed until next Friday whilst Barnsley Council undertake works.

Fitzwilliam Street and Hill Street – from Cobcar Street to Armroyd Lane – were closed from Monday. They will re-open a week today after Barnsley Council’s maintenance work is completed.

Temporary traffic lights will be placed on a Kendray street today. From 8am until 6pm, motorists have been told to expect delays on Hunningley Lane whilst Yorkshire Water conduct work in the area.
