POLICE in Darfield are encouraging residents to remain wary following a surge in garage break-ins in recent weeks.
Police say the offences tend to take place in the early hours of the morning, and offenders force padlocks and steal items from inside the sheds and garages.
They have asked residents to remain vigilant and purchase items such as a shed bar and a quality padlock, as some residents leave high-value items locked behind cheap padlocks.
A police spokesperson said: “If you have any information that may assist in these offences please call 101 - you do not have to leave you name or number and all calls will be treated in the strictest of confidence.”
