PENISTONE family band Scandal are set to release their latest song today – and they feel it’s one of their most important yet.

The band – made up of husband and wife duo Craig and Audrey Parsons and son Keegan – unveiled their latest work, Asimbonanga, earlier today.

It is sung in English and Zulu and is about the late South African president, Nelson Mandela.

The song was written by South African musician Johnny Clegg, who was famously known as in France as, ‘le Zoulou blanc’, which translates to, ‘the white Zulu’.

The song talks about Mandela’s 27 years in the South African jail on Robben Island.

Craig told the Chronicle: “As ex-South African citizens, and as part of the generation that forced the abolishment of Apartheid, Nelson Mandela played a special part in our lives.

“To us, he represents the spirit of the ‘Rainbow Nation’, and they believe, he is the perfect example of what a politician should be, how they should conduct themselves, and how they should

represent their country’s people.

“In this day and age, where politicians seem more corrupt and self-serving than ever before, with the likes of Boris Johnson, Nigel Farage, and Donald Trump – ironically backed by a South African, Elon Musk – we felt it would be fitting, to release a song about a great man, who did great things, and served the people, and never himself.”

The song is now available on all streaming platforms.
