COUNCIL bosses have urged drivers to steer clear of gritters when wanting to overtake as temperatures continue to plummet.
Barnsley Council have asked drivers to be patient of gritters as they continue to work across the borough due to freezing temperatures.
A spokesperson for Barnsley Council said: “If you find yourself driving behind a gritter, make sure you give yourself plenty of space, leave room at junctions, and be patient.
“Our gritters cover the full width of the road, so might not always use the lanes you’d expect.
“Don’t overtake unless you’re sure it’s safe to do so, and leave plenty of room if you do.”
