AN UPDATE on plans to demolish 30 homes will be given later this year.

Terraces on Co-operative Street and Victoria Street, Goldthorpe, will be flattened and nine new two and three-bedroom council houses will be built in their place as part of a compulsory purchase order.

A council document shows a meeting will take place on November 14 to discuss the project’s progress.

CINEMA giant Cineworld have submitted plans to Barnsley Council to alter the signage on its huge unit. Plans were submitted to the council earlier this months for the 4DX sign on the unit to be reduced in size, and a new PEPSI sign to be erected. A total of four neighbouring properties have been made aware of the plans with no appeals to date. Public consultation ends on October 4.

AN application to make alterations to the front of the YMCA building in the town centre have been approved by the council. PLANS to divide a Cawthorne farmhouse to turn it into two properties have been approved by the council. A planning application for the work to take place at Jowett House Farm, on Bank House Lane, were originally submitted in October. After 11 months of deliberating, the council’s planning board approved these plans last week.

PLANS to convert a Barnsley shop into a studio apartment have been approved by the council. An application was originally submitted in July for the work to take place on Doncaster Road. These plans were given the green light by Barnsley Council’s planning board last week.
