A HALLOWEEN fanatic who goes above and beyond every year to put on a spooky charity display is this year raising funds for Andy’s Man Club with a night that promises to be bigger than ever.
Each year, mum-of-two Claire Williams tries to outdo herself with the incredible display at her house on Howse Street in Elsecar, with massive displays and dramatic costumes providing terrifying fun for locals.
This year, the event on October 31 will raise funds for Andy’s Man Club (AMC) in Wombwell and Claire has failed to resist her urge to buy more decorations for the night.
Claire said: “My husband works in mental health so he does lots to promote AMC’s work.
“I think it’s a really important group and they don’t charge at all for their services, it’s all organised by volunteers. There’s going to be more added again this year – we’ve got a full skeleton band with a drum kit. I began planning for this from November 1 last year – I look for all the decorations while things are reduced.”
For the first time this year, Claire will also be running a raffle and plans on opening up her house early for young people and those with sensory difficulties who may find the full event too overwhelming.
“We’ll be open from 4pm to 8pm,” she added.
“But if you’ve got little ones who are scared and still want to see it being built up while we’re not in costumes they’re more than welcome to come down, donate and get a goody bag.
“It can be a bit of a sensory overload when it’s all running and I know people with disabilities can find that difficult. So we want to give everyone the opportunity to come down and see it.”
