ACCLAIMED filmmakers Dean and Rebecca Sills will have their film ‘Regeneration’ shown in Italy today.
Regeneration tells the story of how the mining industry came to an end.
It also discusses the miners’ strike of 1984/85.
The film includes interviews, archive footage and what life is like now in the Dearne Valley.
It will be screened in Italy at the Heritales: Equilibrio Festival in Sardinia. The festival takes place until Sunday and will include films, live music and workshops.
Regeneration will screen today alongside other films including Island in the Sun and Sowing the Earth.
Rebecca said: “I am really proud of what we have achieved so far with Regeneration. This is the second time Regeneration has made it into Heritales’ festivals. They screened the film in Portugal this year and now they want to show Regeneration in Italy.
“I am currently looking at more screenings and can’t wait to see where the film will screen next. I would love to get the film into local schools as it is part of our history.”
