THE NEW production site for Moorland Plastics' has officially reopened. Barnsley mayor Dorothy Higginbottom did the honours in front of an audience of customers and adult education representatives. Moorland Plastics is a non-profit organisation which manufactures PVCu doors and window-frames, along with smaller plastic items such as toy fire-fighter helmets, parts used in mines across the world, and handles used by many Made In Sheffield brands. Its employees include staff with a range of additional needs who are given education to achieve nationally recognised vocational qualifications. It also helps 14 to 16-year-olds get work experience towards manufacturing diplomas.
