THE Alhambra Shopping Centre is set to benefit from a major cash injection.
Work on the shopping centre's frontage is to start soon, giving shoppers a new entrance for those accessing it from Cheapside.
A full glass fascia will replace the current red brick which will open up the centre and allow more natural light into the building.
The investment is expected to take up to four months to complete including the removal of the first floor mezzanine and upgrades to the glazed atria.
John Tarrant, manager of the centre, said: "We are all very excited about the development. It is the first in a string of proposed changes for the venue over the next three years.
"Customers can be assured that the building works will not impact on access and shopping facilities will be fully available throughout the construction."
The investment has come from landlords F&C Reit.
