A PAIR of childhood sweethearts have celebrated their 60th anniversary after meeting when they were only 13 years old.

Ann and Joseph Wilcock met at Worsbrough Common Youth Club as teenagers and were married by the time they were 18.

Now, almost 60 years later, the pair have spent their life together and were excited to celebrate their diamond anniversary last Thursday.

Ann explained that reaching this milestone anniversary is more about luck than anything, and she was fortunate enough to meet the love of her life at such an early age.

“We were only 18 when we got married, Joseph turned 19 a month later,” she said.

“We were courting at only 13 – I think that’s why we’ve got so far.

“People getting married today at 30 are much less likely to celebrate this.”
