THE eagerly-awaited fountains in the new town hall square were officially switched on by the mayor on Wednesday evening.

The fountain, which has 30 nozzles, emits 30 curved jets of water of varying diameter. The jets can be illuminated by LED lights and have programmable nozzles to create beautiful displays.

There is a 50,000-litre underground tank, and water, which is all disinfected and filtered, is pumped through the fountain’s nozzles at 30,000 litres per hour.

A public event for the plaque unveiling and naming of the square is planned for next month.

You can see the fountains lit up on this video.
