SEVEN parcels of land have been put up for auction by Barnsley Council.

The land – which has guide prices between £5,000 and £150,000 – is currently up for auction by Mark Jenkinson and Co.

The cheapest piece of land, at the junction of Gower Street and Park Street in Wombwell, has gone up with a guide price of £5,000.

The 142 square metre site is classed as ‘urban fabric’ in the council’s local plan, with a mix of residential and commercial uses in the immediate area, however the site is constrained in size and therefore unlikely to be suitable for residential development.

Interested parties are invited to make their own planning and highways enquiries in respect of possible schemes.

While land of Ellin Close in Jump has been earmarked for a cost of £150,000.

It is 0.6 acres in size and the auctioneers say it could be used for residential development.

A spokesperson said: “There are a number of trees on the site and if a planning application is made with the trees in-situ they would pose a constraint due to being a prominent landscape feature and would need to be carefully considered as part of any proposed scheme.

“Interested parties are invited to make their own planning and highways enquiries in respect of possible schemes.

“A coal seam is conjectured to outcrop through the site and the site is within a Coal Authority planning risk referral area, therefore a coal mining risk assessment may be required for planning application purposes, further details are available in the mining report contained within the legal documents.”

Other parcels of land include two in Hoyland, Pogmoor, Athersley South and Barnsley.
