If approved, the unit on Agnes Road will be converted. A total of 35 neighbouring properties have been made aware of the plans with no appeals to date. Public consultation ends on March 6.

PLANS to convert a takeaway into four flats have been submitted to the council. If approved, work will take place on Barnsley Road, Cudworth. Twelve neighbouring properties have been made aware of the application with no appeals to date. The public can have their say on the plans until March 7.

AN appeal against Barnsley Council’s decision to reject planning permission for a new home has been thrown out by inspectors. Jack Lycett sought outline permission to potentially build on Kensington Road, Old Town, but planning officers refused the bid due to neighbours’ privacy being harmed and highways safety. He subsequently lodged an appeal against the council’s decision with the Planning Inspectorate, a government-run body which has the power to overturn a local authority. However, inspectors sided with the council and dismissed Mr Lycett’s appeal.

A NEW salon could be created in Smithies should plans be deemed acceptable. An application to convert a garage on Kirkland Gardens into a salon was submitted to the council last week. A total of 16 neighbouring properties have been made aware of the plans. Public consultation ends on March 6.

PLANS to erect a two-storey extension to the rear of a Redbrook property have been approved by the council. An application was originally submitted for work to take place on Rainton Grove in December. These plans were given the green light by Barnsley Council’s planning board last week.
