BARNSLEY FC supporters are being encouraged to show their generosity by supporting the Reds Against Hunger donation drive later this month.
The scheme will take place on Saturday, February 15 when the Reds take on Huddersfield Town at Oakwell.
Fans are encouraged to bring non-perishable food donations to help those in need, with all contributions going directly to Barnsley Foodbank.
Donations will be collected in the Ozone on matchday, but fans who are unable to bring items on the day can also drop off their contributions at Barnsley FC Community Trust prior to the game.
The initiative aims to support local individuals and families facing food insecurity, ensuring they have access to essential food supplies.
Georgina Arnold, development and communications administrator at the foodbank, said: “We are thrilled to be working alongside Barnsley FC and Barnsley Community Trust again.
“Last year, we gave out the equivalent of 205,313 meals to individuals in crisis across Barnsley.
“We are having a busy winter, with food parcel requests expected to incline as the year goes on.
“The support we receive from the team is amazing and we wish them luck in the match too.
“We know how passionate our fans are about supporting the community, and this is a fantastic opportunity to make a real difference,” said Kieron Campbell, of Barnsley FC Community Trust.
“Every donation, big or small, will help those who need it most.”
Fans attending the game are encouraged to bring items such as tinned goods, pasta, rice, cereals, and other essential food items.
