A BARNSLEY mum has gone viral online for her comedy sketches depicting her life growing up on a council estate.

Kayleigh Nowell, 37, of Smithies, has accrued more than 100,000 followers on her Facebook and TikTok pages under the name ‘Northern Funny Mummy’.

She’s also amassed more than one million likes on the latter, where she shares her comedy sketches – particularly depicting her life growing up on a council estate.

Kayleigh admits her characters have opened up a lot of doors for her – and she’s keen that it’ll help kickstart her career in comedy.

She said: “I’ve been on TikTok for a few years but I just couldn’t find my niche. I started doing sketches and then it just took off.

“I’ve always wanted to be a comedian and people seem to be really enjoying it. My most popular character is Bev and I started the videos with just doing Facebook status updates.

“But from there it’s become its own little mini series. It’s based on my own upbringing on a council estate and it’s resonating with people.”
