A BARNSLEY driving instructor donated more than £300 to Barnsley Hospice this week.
David Haimes, of Woodland Driving School, based in Silkstone Common, decided he’d donate £10 to the charity every time one of his students passed their test back in 2021.
In 2021, a total of 22 students past their test and a further two learners donated £60 having heard of his fundraising efforts bringing the total donation to £280.
He has since gone onto raise hundreds of pounds for the hospice and last year set a target of 30 passes to mark the hospice’s 30th anniversary – but he went one better.
A spokesperson for the hospice said: “For the past few years, David of Woodland Driving School has donated £10 to Barnsley Hospice for every one of his learners who have passed their test.
“After averaging 27 passes a year, he set a target of 30 passes to celebrate our 30th anniversary.
“Not only did he reach his target, but he also did one better, with 31 passing students.
“He recently stopped by to present us with a cheque for £310, taking his overall donation total over the past four years to £1,130.
“Thank you so much to David, as well as his amazing learner drivers for helping to reach this total and make such a difference at the hospice.”
