A CUDWORTH man who is charged with committing a burglary on New Year’s Day will appear at Sheffield Crown Court next month.
Matthew Cullen, of Jackson Street, is accused of aggravated burglary at an address on Pontefract Road, also Cudworth. The 25-year-old is also charged with possessing a blade, threatening a woman with an axe and criminal damage to the value of £5,000. He will appear in court on April 3.
A MOTORIST who was unlicensed and uninsured when he was recorded on the M1 travelling at 100mph almost a decade ago has been sentenced. Dong Nguyen, of Snydale Road, Cudworth, was stopped by police on the M1 in Wakefield in 2016. However, difficulty finding a Vietnamese interpreter resulted in the case being continually adjourned. The 31-year-old was fined £70 and given six penalty points at a hearing at Sheffield Magistrates’ Court.
A MOTHER who failed to make sure her child attended school has been fined. Jade Harper-Rishworth, of Newland Avenue, Cudworth, admitted the charge having been pursued by Barnsley Council. The 37-year-old was told to pay £56.
A WOMAN who denies assaulting three people will appear for trial next month. Katie Kipling, of York Street, Cudworth, pleaded not guilty to assaulting a man and two women on June 30, 2024. The 32-year-old admitted damaging two cars – an Audi Q3 and a Mitsubishi L200 belonging to two of the alleged victims – on the same day. She will appear for trial at Barnsley Magistrates’ Court on April 24.
A MAN who was caught driving whilst disqualified has been given a suspended prison sentence. Reece Coles, of Mount Avenue, Grimethorpe, was stopped in the village having been driving a Ford Fusion. The 29-year-old was given a six-week prison sentence, suspended for 18 months, and disqualified from driving for a further 36 months.
A THIEF who stole joints of meat from a supermarket will be sentenced next month. Matthew Hume, of Locke Avenue, Barugh Green, targeted Lidl’s store on Wakefield Road, Barnsley. The 39-year-old, who pleaded guilty, will be sentenced at Barnsley Magistrates’ Court on April 17.
