A SPECIAL educational needs school in Barnsley hosted a variety of activities to welcome in National Careers Week.
Greenacre School in Kingstone invite pupils from primary age all the way to year 14 to take part and get a glimpse of potential careers they could follow in future.
They rolled-up their sleeves and gained practical experience in the school’s salon, cafe, gym and horticulture garden, learning practical skills and discovering what work is like in these areas.
Local employers also attended to host informational workshops and post-16 students were invited to Broadway Fire Station where they could tour the station and try on equipment.
Bethan O’Hara, career leader at the school, said: “Greenacre would like to extend a huge thank you to all the amazing volunteers and organisations who made the week such a success – Lauren and Lewis from Echo Fire and Medical, Danni Booth Lindley personal trainer, Ben and Nathan from Hyperoptic, Liam and Adam from Barnsley Football Club, and all the incredible staff at Broadway Fire Station. Your support has been invaluable.”
