A RAIL enthusiast who 25 years ago released a book chronicling his long journey along a closed down train line with his German shepherd will now re-live the adventures through a new presentation.

Stephen Gay walked thousands of miles across the defunct Woodhead railway line between Sheffield and Manchester with his faithful companion Thunder, taking pictures along the journey.

In 1999 the locomotive fanatic released a book containing around 200 pictures from the journey, remembering the line that closed in 1981.

Now hopes to share it again through an upcoming presentation in Cawthorne at the Over-60s Club.
