CHRISTMAS time always seems extra special to a Goldthorpe couple and this one is a real diamond.
David and Carol Bingley, who are both 78, will celebrate 60 years of marriage tomorrow.
They met as teenagers whilst working at Wilson and Longbottom and romance quickly blossomed.
Carol said: “When we got to the 40th anniversary he said I deserved a medal the size of a dustbin lid but they were proper metal ones back then.
“You have got to work at a marriage that’s the key.”
David worked as a design engineer with Carol well known for working as a crossing lady and teaching assistant at Ardsley Oaks School and Edward Sheerien School.
The couple have two children, one granddaughter and two grandsons.
They will be celebrating their special day with a family get together.
