POLICE are reminding residents who have a vulnerable family member about a scheme which offers support should they go missing.

A police spokesperson said: “The colder and darker months can be an especially worrying time if you are concerned about a vulnerable family member living with dementia or Alzheimer’s going missing.

“But the Herbert Protocol information gathering tool can help – the easy to complete form is designed to make sure that if someone does go missing, the police can get access to important information about that person as soon as possible.”

It enables family and friends to provide important information about their loved ones living with dementia and Alzheimer’s to the police quickly if they go missing.

This helps the police save time that would usually be used for gathering information and instead start searches sooner.
