RESIDENTS are being encouraged to have their say on the draft proposals for the new ward boundaries for Barnsley.

The Local Government Boundary Commission are proposing that there continue to be 21 three-councillor wards, 17 of which will have different boundaries with just four staying the same.

The consultation on the draft recommendations ends on September 9 and people are being urged to provide their views online.

Leader of Barnsley Council Sir Steve Houghton said: “I’d encourage anyone with views on these proposals to take part in the consultation. You can visit lgbce.org.uk/all-reviews/barnsley to see the detail of the proposals and comment on the names of wards and boundaries.”
