THE underpass at a local train station has been given a makeover after a mural was unveiled recently.

Artist Jayde Bell – known as Eye Violet – has been working with Barnsley Council on a number of projects to brighten up the Dearne.

This time, she has partnered with Northern and Thurnscoe Regeneration CIO to give a ‘complete refresh’ to the underpass at Thurnscoe station.

The mural features old and new trains, alongside images of nature.

It was officially opened last Thursday, with representatives from Northern and Thurnscoe Regeneration CIO – who funded the project – in attendance alongside Jayde, local councillors and volunteers.

Alison Vint, development worker for the CIO, said: “We’re delighted to support this project and we hope all residents and visitors to Thurnscoe enjoy the beautiful artwork on display.”
