MORE than £1,000 was raised when two friends ran from Leeds to Barnsley to raise cash for a cancer-stricken youngster.
Nine-year-old Oliver Stephenson, who was diagnosed with neuroblastoma five years ago, had beaten the illness having travelled to New York when fundraisers generated more than £250,000 for him to have specialist treatment.
However, medics confirmed it had returned and he has already completed chemotherapy in recent weeks.
Oliver’s mum, Laura Stephenson, and neighbour Jess Hall set off for Leeds General Infirmary’s Clarendon Wing – where he’s been receiving treatment – and finished in Barnsley last Saturday.
Jess said: “A huge thank you to everyone who joined in and supported us on the way – the donations have been incredible.”
