A HOUSING developer will put right land damaged as a result of an ‘industrial accident’ which saw a forklift truck slide onto a footpath used by schoolchildren.
Darfield councillors and residents on Barratt Homes’ site, on Hall Croft, complained due to the mess caused by the incident which occurred earlier this month.
Coun Kevin Osborne said: “This area of land has been used to develop a drainage system for the development.
“The works do appear to have been completed but clearly the work has left the area in a bit of a mess.
“What once was a clear and easy footpath for dog walkers and children at Netherwood has turned into a muddy obstacle course.”
The 100-home estate was given the green light by Barnsley Council last year, but extra drainage was deemed necessary.
A spokesperson from the developer added: “Barratt Homes were notified immediately about the incident with the fork lift truck and the situation was resolved as quickly as possible in a safe manner.
“We will be undertaking the works to reinstate the area.”
