A BARNSLEY midwife with almost three decades’ experience has been nominated for a Proud of Barnsley award for her work this year.
Sally Wilson, 52, of Abbey Farm View in Cudworth, has worked for 29 years and says she’s showing no signs of stopping just yet.
She said: “I’m a community midwife and I’ve recently moved to the Bolton-upon-Dearne area but I used to work in Grimethorpe.
“I’ve been a midwife for around 28 or 29 years and I love my community work my ladies are an absolute pleasure.
“I’ve had a bit of time off sick this year but it has been different it’s been difficult but the whole Barnsley Maternity Unit are a brilliant team and everyone’s been coming together so the spirit has been fantastic.
“I’m not thinking about stopping yet because I absolutely love my job the ladies make it for me.”
Upon hearing of her nomination in the Hospital Hero category, Sally said she was almost speechless but admits that it was lovely to be nominated.
“I’m so shocked that I’ve been nominated but really nice it’s lovely to be recognised for my work.
“I never expected this but it’s amazing I’m almost speechless.”
