BARNSLEY’S branch of the Liberal Democrats have put forward their candidate for next month’s Dodworth by-election.
Andy Waters, who has lived in the local area for 35 years and has played football at Dodworth Miners’ Welfare, was involved in the campaign to try to save Penny Pie Park.
The by-election was caused by the resignation of former councillor Sam Christmas – who represented the Lib Dems – and voting will be held on December 12.
Andy said: “If I’m not prepared to step up and put myself forward, how can I complain when politicians make terrible decisions that hurt this area?
“I’ve seen the difference that hard-working Lib Dem councillors can make by working for you, their residents, rather than for town hall bosses.
“It would be an honour to join Couns Will Fielding and Chris Wray and represent Dodworth ward on the council.”
