A NEW town centre supermarket which has brought 29 new jobs to Barnsley is set to open next week.
The Aldi store, on Old Mill Lane, will open on Thursday at 8am.
The German retail giant also called on local charities and foodbanks across the borough to register with Neighbourly – its engagement platform that links businesses to charitable organisations.
Those who register will be able to collect surplus food up to five days a week – anyone that would like to partner with the new store should email aldi@neighbourly.com.
Store manager Chloe Marsden said: “We’re really looking forward to it – it’s set to be a great day and it’ll be lovely to welcome our new customers into the store.”
