A CONTROVERSIAL plan to create a new one-way road to reduce congestion into Barnsley town centre will be decided today.

Cabinet members will be meeting at 10am to decide whether a gyratory system on the A628 Dodworth Road heading towards the M1 should be created.

Should the plans be approved, part of Penny Pie Park will be built over to make way for the new system.

Last night, campaigner Peter Giles along with others held a vigil outside the Town Hall.
