BARNSLEY boxing champion Callum Simpson feels he can put emotions to one side as he fights for the first time since the loss of his sister.

Lily-Rae Simpson died just weeks after Callum had won the British and Commonwealth super-middleweight titles on a memorable night at Oakwell in August.

The 19-year-old died in Greece after being involved in a quad bike accident whilst on holiday.

Tonight’s fight in Sheffield, a title defence against Steed Woodall, will be his first without her watching.

Callum said: “I think I’m mentally strong and any emotion will come after the fight.

“I have always been able to focus as soon as the bell rings.

“I will never stop talking about her. Whenever I hear her name I smile and I laugh.

“I was so proud she was my sister.”
