LOCALS are being invited to a special concert to celebrate the Queen's 90th birthday.

The Mayor of Barnsley, Coun Linda Burgess, will lead the community at St Mary’s Parish Church from 7pm on Saturday, June 11.

The evening will feature performances reflecting the Queen’s 64 years reign from The Yorkshire Military Band and Barnsley U3As choir.

Mayor Elect Coun Linda Burgess said: “I’m honoured to be leading the Queen’s 90th birthday concert and sure the evening will promise to be entertaining, all the proceeds for the tickets will go towards the upkeep of St Mary’s Church.”

St Mary’s Parish Church, The Rev Canon Stephen Race added: “The church is at the heart of the community and we look forward to celebrating this joyous occasion with the local people of Barnsley.”
