LOCAL councillors joined volunteers and partner organisations for a community day of action in Wombwell.

Taking place on Bartholomew Street and the surrounding areas, work included litter picking, engaging with private tenants and outreach work with police officers.

Couns James Higginbottom, Robert Frost and Brenda Eastwood said in a joint statement: “We were pleased to join volunteers, council services and partners for this day of action in the Wombwell area.

“Working together we picked litter, engaged with residents and met with South Yorkshire Police officers as they went about their daily duties.

“Together, we will continue to work hard to make Wombwell the cleaner, greener and safer place we all are proud to call home.”
