THE WAR memorial at Thurnscoe has been grade two listed to protect it for future generations.
The war memorial, located in Thurnscoe Park, was designed by Captain M Tyas and cost £750 - it was unveiled in 1920 commemorating 76 local servicemen who died during the First World War.
The protection of grade two status by the government means it has been recognised as an item of historic interest.
The Friends of Thurnscoe Park group are hoping to secure funding to further maintain and restore the memorial.
