SCORES of people turned out for the funeral of a war hero from Barnsley who passed away at the age of 91.
Thursday marked Ken Burkinshaw's funeral, who served aboard HMS Sheffield when he was only 16 and completed nine trips to Russia in -40ºC conditions to deliver supplies to allies.
More than 3,000 men died during the Arctic visits and Ken was awarded by both British and Russian governments in his later life, receiving the Arctic Star and Ushakov medals.
