BARNSLEY Council’s Dearne Area Team have put out a plea asking for volunteers for a loneliness scheme.
The B:Friend scheme asks locals to volunteer for just an hour a week to support elderly people who may be suffering loneliness.
A spokesperson said: “We are looking for befrienders in Thurnscoe and the surrounding areas.
“Do you have an hour a week for a cuppa and a chat with an older neighbour?
“Volunteer with our charity and help tackle loneliness and social isolation as a befriender.”
