THE search is on to find a Barnsley woman who was named Miss Barnsley in 1987.
The organisers of an event to celebrate Houghton Main are hoping to trace Wendy Sharman who is pictured here with miners from the colliery in a newspaper spread.
The celebration event will be on May 4 and will include the unveiling of a memorial to Houghton Miners who served during World War One; taking a series of group photographs reflecting the continued community work performed by the Houghton Main Miners’ Welfare and a village fete event with activities for the whole family.
